Young Alumni
Recent graduates are invited to become involved with the alumni network as soon as possible following graduation. Your local alumni club serves as your gateway to connect with the broader alumni network. No matter which program you have graduated from, the Office of Alumni Relations hopes you will remain an active member of Columbia Business School’s alumni community for years to come.
Young alumni are especially encouraged to stay actively involved with the School, as they can provide current students with invaluable insight on navigating campus life and offer a recent “real world” perspective on the transition from student to alumnus.
Alumni Clubs
There are more than 55 alumni clubs around the world, so no matter where you work, live or travel the Columbia Business School network is there for you to take advantage of. Young alumni are especially encouraged to get involved with their local alumni club. These clubs are led by talented volunteers who organize a variety of stimulating professional and social events, which provide alumni with many opportunities to exchange ideas and network with peers. To learn more, please contact Michelle Santoro at mps2104@columbia.edu
Social Networking with Current Students
Connecting with students provides recent graduates the opportunity to give back to the current student population by sharing their experiences and expertise, which, in return, enhances and strengthens the Columbia Business School network.
If you’d like to make yourself available for current students to contact you with questions about the industry you work in, your career path, or your perspective on how to make the most of their time as students, please take a moment to edit your social networking account and switch the default setting so that students are able to contact you.
To change your default settings, please click the account settings link within the Network section of the site.
Reunion Committee
1st and 5th year reunions are among the best attended class celebrations. If you are interested in serving as a reunion committee member for your 1st or 5th year class’s reunion efforts, please contact Marisa Totino at mat2193@columbia.edu.
Columbia Forever Week and Young Alumni Happy Hour
Columbia Forever Week, organized and sponsored by the School’s student-run Alumni Committee, gives alumni the opportunity to return to campus for various events, including Young Alumni Happy Hour, and offers current students early exposure to the alumni network. The Alumni Committee is focused on building community among second-years, easing the transition from active student to active alumnus and further strengthening the School’s alumni network.
Columbia Career Network
Launched in August 2010, the Columbia Career Network is an initiative to strengthen and build upon the School’s extensive global community. It will serve as the umbrella identifier for every instance where students will have the opportunity to engage and leverage the Columbia Business School network — including alumni, faculty members, staff, Executives-in-Residence, and others who are dedicated to the industry and career education of our students.
The Columbia Career Network replaces the Alumni Advisor program, which connected alumni volunteers with incoming students to help them make the most of their time while at Columbia Business School. Feedback from both alumni and students clearly revealed that pure industry-based mentoring would provide stronger ties between students and alumni and prove more beneficial to all.
All alumni will be considered members of the Columbia Career Network and are strongly encouraged to respond to all calls and emails from inquiring students, even if just to postpone a brief conversation until it is more convenient.
Student Clubs and Conferences
Young alumni are also encouraged to keep in touch with the student clubs they were involved in as students. Columbia Business School boasts more than 90 active student clubs and associations. Throughout the academic year, alumni are invited to attend and/or participate in a number of programs hosted by student clubs, including conferences and panel discussions.
In these challenging times, our connections to one another are more valuable than ever. Thank you for your commitment to the Columbia Business School network.
