Marketing

Professional opportunities may present themselves at any time or place. You should be prepared to showcase your skills, knowledge, and capabilities in a way that is targeted to the opportunity at hand. The most recognized vehicles for marketing yourself include your pitch, résumés, cover letters, deal sheets, work samples, and thank you e-mails. As you progress, it will be important to update your marketing materials to reflect your successes. Be thoughtful and strategic as you develop a plan to position yourself alongside other job seekers. Below find a sample marketing plan and other materials to help you structure and execute your job search.

As an alumnus, you can also market yourself to both corporate and executive recruiters through the Experienced Hire Talent Portal, an online résumé database of Columbia Business School alumni profiles and résumés. Recruiters are given access to alumni profiles and résumés for consideration for open positions. Finally, Columbia Business School has partnered with Blue Steps, a fee-based service that provides alumni with a direct link to over 6,000 executive recruiters.
