Jeff is the lab manager for the Behavioral Research Lab. He earned his Bachelor’s in Psychology and Political Science from the University of Maine at Farmington, and he earned his master’s degree in the social sciences from the University of Chicago. He hopes to make the Lab an efficient resource for the research community at the Business School and provide a fun and productive environment in which research can be conducted.


Safiya Castel
Research Assistant
Columbia Business School

Safiya Castel is a full time research assistant working primarily with management professors, Kathy Phillips and Modupe Akinola. She graduated from Temple University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and minors in sociology and Spanish. Safiya’s goals are to continue learning and building her skills as a researcher. She aspires to one day earn a doctoral degree in organizational behavior or a related field.


Cameron McClure
Recruitment Coordinator
Columbia Business School

Cameron McClure coordinates recruitment for the Behavioral Research Lab. She is also the coordinator for the Business School’s Program on Social Intelligence. Cameron studied psychology as an undergraduate at Columbia before beginning her work with the lab.


Abbie Wazlawek

Abbie Wazlaweck is a doctoral student in the Business School's Management Division and a student representative on the Behavioral Research Lab committee. Her main interests are in status, attention, and social perception. In the future Abbie hopes to work toward obtaining an academic position at a business school.


Franklin Shaddy
Research Assistant
Columbia Behavioral Research Lab

Franklin Shaddy is a research assistant in the Behavioral Research lab. He has assisted with a number of academic and research projects, including work with Marketing professor Leonard Lee, Management professor Modupe Akinola, and visiting business school faculty Adam Galinsky. He is currently a graduate student at Columbia University pursuing an MA in Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences. Prior to his graduate studies, Franklin worked in professional services as an associate at a management consulting firm. His primary research interests include judgment under uncertainty, the role of emotion, preference construction, and consumer behavior.
