Distinguished Seminar Series
The center brings a practitioner to the Columbia Distinguished Seminar Series, a joint event hosted by Columbia Business School’s Decision, Risk, and Operations Division and the School of Engineering and Applied Science’s Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. This program enables senior industry practitioners to participate in a seminar and spend time with faculty members and PhD students, creating an interactive dialogue around theory and practice.
In 2010, the center invited Brian Leach, chief risk officer of Citibank, and Steve Sturm, vice president of strategy of Toyota USA, to take part in the series. Brenda Dietrich, IBM fellow and vice president of research, and Brent C. James, chief quality officer at Internountain Healthcare, were invited to participate in 2011.
