Trips & Events

Each year, Columbia Business School student club groups organize study and recruiting trips to key geographic markets for MBA students interested in pursuing employment in those areas. If you are interested in participating, please contact the appropriate student group or our office.

Some of the recent trips planned included:

London – November

Each year, many first year students from the School's European Society and Investment Banking Club participate in London Banking Days, a two day event in which students interested in pursuing opportunities in the EU meet with representatives from the investment banking industry. Featured in last year's event, which included panels in sales and trading, banking, and private wealth management were companies such as: Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley, and UBS. Last year's trip also included an evening networking event and a full day of on-site informationals.

Additional treks for Consulting and Private Equity also were held.

Washington, DC – December

During the School's prior three recruiting trips to Washington, DC, students from Columbia's International Development Club met with representatives from IFC (International Finance Corporation), Zephyr Africa, EMP Global, USAID, Emerging Markets Group, OPIC, Millennium Challenge Corp, EX-IM Bank, Foundation for International Community Assistance (FINCA), and the World Bank Group. The students also attended a mixer with Columbia Business School alumni.

Silicon Valley – January

This trip is organized by Columbia's Technology Business Group, and typically includes site visits to leading companies and start-ups such as: eBay, Genentech, Google, Intel, Intuit, Linkedin, SnapFish, WebEx, and Yahoo!; a venture capital panel consisting of representatives from companies like Battery Ventures, Hummer Winblad, SAP Ventures, Apax Partners, etc.; a networking event where students meet with representatives from tech companies like Apple or Cisco Systems, and those that serve them like McKinsey & Company and Savvian. The Trip usually coincides with the Dean's annual Bay Area alumni reception to which students are invited.

Los Angeles – January

The Media Management Association sent over 30 students on its last annual January trip to Southern California. Students visited Disney, Fox, Paramount, Sony, Activision, CAA, and other firms. The trip included an alumni mixer and a mixer with other MBA students also in LA visiting media companies.
