The Social Venture Pitch session at the 2012 Social Enterprise Conference features emerging for-profit social entrepreneurs who use eight minutes to pitch their enterprise to a panel of impact investors and advisors to be considered for an investment of $250,000–500,000 by Jalia Ventures / Serious Change, LP. Professor Ron Gonen ’04, founder of RecycleBank served as the competition’s moderator. The judges included Lisa Williams ’11, Associate of Investments at Imprint Capital; Professor John Walker ’08, Finance Director of Echoing Green and Adjunct Professor at Columbia SIPA; and Yasmina Zaidman, Director of Communications and Strategic Partnerships at Acumen Fund.Entrepreneurs include: Donnel Baird ’13, Founder of BlocPower; Alina Kohan ’12, Director of Finance, Powerhive; and Toure McCluskey, Founder of OkCopay.
